If you’re a fan of technology, watch as Chrysler and Fiat just start to kill it with their combined efforts to be the leaders in new vehicle technologies.

Chrysler and Fiat are about to debut their first collaboration with the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the suspense is hard to resist. This is going to be very revealing of just how much the combined assets of these great companies can bring to the market.

The market is hungry for great technology and Fiat has the talent for doing amazing things that it’s customers have appreciated for years, they just needed Chrysler to give them a platform to do it in the US.

These new transmissions are going to bring 25% better fuel economy, and if that isn’t awesome in it’s own right, what’s even cooler is that its being done with a transmission.

Transmissions are fascinating machines. All of their moving gears and parts are truly a miracle when you think about what they accomplish without you having to do anything except move the shifter into a single position. The rest happens without you ever really needing to know how, that’s a sign of great engineering.

With this investment in the development of a new transmission, Chrysler and Fiat will be pushing the envelope for other companies to try and produce this level of excellence in their products.

When you drive a Chrysler, just knowing it has this type of engineering behind it will bring a confidence in quality and technology that one would be proud to own.

Chrysler Sets Out To Increase Fuel Efficiency By 25% Overall

Chrysler is making use of the technology from it’s partner Fiat who obtained a 20% stake in Chrysler Group LLC in January of 2009. In order to revamp Chrysler’s entire lineup, they turned to Fiat’s technologies such as Multiair, direct injection, turbocharging and transmission systems.

By leveraging the strengths of Fiat, Chrysler has set a goal they plan to reach by 2014, the company expects a 25% increase in fuel efficiency across it’s entire lineup.

The deal with Fiat allows Chrysler to leverage Fiat’s technology, worth billions of dollars. Fiat can capitalize on the partnership by offering it’s lineup by in North American Chrysler showrooms in 2011.

Chrysler, as part of it’s 5 year plan, is currently working on a traditional hybrid version of the Ram 1500.

In addition, Chrysler will continue working in cooperation with the Department of Energy on a fleet of plug-in hybrid pickup trucks and vans.

Chrysler is also exploring the prospect of producing a line of electric vehicles in a highly lucrative commercial market. Companies looking to cut costs, and take advantage of tax incentives, will begin replacing their commercial fleet vehicles with more economical solutions.

The Fiat 1.4L engine with Multiair has a lot to offer in terms of cutting edge technology. Multiair allows the engine to expand its breathing capability, more performance and fuel efficiency while reducing emissions. The 1.4L can be equipped with a turbocharger model that makes 170 horsepower, a 70 hp gain over the naturally aspirated version.

Chrysler has been able integrate the Fiat Multiair technology into it’s currently produced 2.4L engine in just 6 months. The 2.4L can be found in the Dodge Caliber, Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass and the Multiair integration will greatly enhance the performance and efficiency of these vehicles.

The new Chrysler Pentastar V6 with Multiair technology will debut in Q2 of this year in the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The new 3.6L V6 will also replace 6 different engine architectures currently used Chrysler, Jeep, Ram and Dodge and is the most advanced V6 Chrysler has ever produced.
